Jim McNamara wins prestigious IAAF gold medal for service to athletics

Jim McNamara won a prestigious AAI award on Saturday for his contribution to athletics, he was presented with his medal in City West on Saturday. Well done Jim and well deserved! Meanwhile we had another packed week of racing, the most recent race was the Samsung Nightime 10k Run and a good contingent of Donore runners including a large group of Barry’s fit for life group turned out on a cool and wet windy night. Jono Daly is coming back to great form after his recent marathon and stormed home in an excellent 34.25, he was followed by John Dunne who got a nasty fall not far from the finish but still got under the clock in 34.38, next in was Rene Kilrane in 38.15 followed by Dave Wogan who ran an excellent 38.51. Our other finishers were Anna Dunne 45.52, Arthur Connick 46.51, Cristina Gonzalez 47.18, Tommy Dunne 48.09, Tony Dunne 48.51, Elaine Verdon 51.25, Anne Rush 51.39, Barry Jennings 52.17, Emily Malcolm 52.58, Eimear Kearney 53.33, Josephine Hughes 56.10, John Powell 56.20, Dearbhla Walsh 57.03, Adrienne Seery 58.28, Amandine Devine 58.29, Aine Grogan 1.01.38, Sinead Dunne 1.03.39, Annette Greally 1.03.45, Cariosa Walsh 1.05.29 and John Giles 1.05.53. Well done to all and a big thanks to everyone who helped with stewarding on the course.

BHAA RTE 5 miles: Well done to Ian Redican 31.58 ,Terry Mee (1st M65)36.09 and Ann Woodlock (1st O70) 42.45.

IMRA Bray Head Hill Run: Well done to stalwart hill runner Sarah Ni Ruairc on a good run in this very tough race.

West Leinsters and North Leinsters Juvenile Track and Field Games: A great turn out from our young members saw some great performances and plenty of top three placings, hopefully we have a record of everybody here, any omissions accidental!

Spar Great Ireland Run: The official AAI championships results are up and our senior women won a brilliant silver medal (Sinead Jennings, Sinead Lambe and Florence Curley), our master women won bronze (Samantha Conroy, Sharon Moore and Michelle Rowley), individual medal winners were Sinead Jennings 1st W35, Fergal Whitty ? 1st M35, John Dunne 2nd M35, Terry Mee 2nd M65.
