Jingle Bells 2014

It was another perfect day for this years Jingle Bells race. Over 900 runners and walkers took to the road for this years race with strong and competitive male and female fields.

A big pack took the lead from the off which included John Travers, Conor Bradley (City of Derry AC) and John Coghlan (MSB). Mick Clohisey (Raheny Shamrocks) took the early lead, setting the pace for the lead group. With 2K to go, John Travers made his move to lead the group home, crossing the line in 14.06 for a new course record.

There was an equally strong field in the ladies race where Mary Cullen made her return following a long injury layoff, Ciara Mageen (UCD), Maria McCambridge (DSD) who has recovered well from her fantastic run in the Dublin marathon and Catherina McKiernan.

Mary Cullen led from the outset, setting a fast early pace tracked by Ciara Mageen, upping the pace from the second kilometre, Mary held strong to come home in first place with Ciara 10 seconds behind.
