Donore Harriers Athletics Report – w/e 18th August 2019

Donal Iremonger (gold and silver) and Fiona Keegan-Smith (gold and bronze) were the star performers at the National Masters Track & Field championships. Orlaith Read and Anne Gormley gain silver and bronze. Excellent 2nd place for Sinead Lambe in the Kilcock 10-mile road race.

 

 

NATIONAL MASTERS TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS at TULLAMORE (18.08.2019)

Donal Iremonger won out in a close encounter in the M45 800m race at the national master’s track and field championships at Tullamore on Sunday (18.08.2019). Iremonger secured the gold with a time of 2.11.54, holding off the challenge of Finbarr Dywer (2.11.71) of Leevale AC and Keith Daly (2.11.86) of Limerick AC. Iremonger (57.46) also took a silver medal in the M45 400m event. Fiona Keegan-Smith was busy in the field, winning gold in the W40 Javelin with a throw of 21.16m and bronze in the Shot Putt (5.87m). She also placed 4th in the 28lb Weight for Distance (3.26m) and 5th in the Discus (14.91m) Donore Harriers athletes won two more medals, with Orlaith Read (23.09m) getting silver in the W45 Hammer and Anne Gormley (21.26.02) bronze in the W55 3KM Walk.

MONAGHAN 10-MILE ROAD RACE (11.08.2019) Barbara Murray was the 3rd woman home in the recent Monaghan 10-mile road race. She finished 51st overall from a field of more than 200 runners.

KILCOCK 10-MILE ROAD RACE (18.08.2019) Sinead Lambe (1.01.30) was the second home in the 2nd running of the Kilcock 10-mile road race last Sunday (18.08.2019). She was 35th of the 620 finishers. Sean Fox M40 (59.09) was 24th overall, with Niall O’Reilly (1.07.27) in 82nd.

RATHKENNY 5KM ROAD RACE (16.08.2019) Tommy Halton M60 (28.28) placed 181st in the Rathkenny 5km road race in Co. Meath on Friday evening (16.08.2019).

PARKRUNS There were three first finisher performances by Donore Harriers women in the Parkrun series last Saturday (17.08.2019). Sinead O’Reilly W35 (22.23) was first home at the Royal Canal, Kilcock, whilst Caren Crowley W40 (23.08) and Katie Delaney U.14 (25.06) won at Corkagh and Waterstown respectively.
