Bohermeen 5K and Weekend Round Up

There were some terrific runs at the Bohermeen 5k on a balmy June night. This pleasant course which finishes on the Bohermeen track saw many fast times. Lee Van Haeften missed a sub-16 by a whisker coming 11th in 16.01 with Fergal Whitty in hot pursuit in 16.07. John Dunne was next in 16.33, Gavin Keogh 16.43 and Fergal Swaine in 16.51. Fred Kiernan was next in 17.04. This fine team effort paid off for the Donore men who won the team event on the night.

Storming home to be 3rd placed lady was Sorcha Nic Dhomhnaill who smashed her PB in a time of 18.16 and in 4th place in another brilliant run and PB was Sinead Lambe in 18.22. Medbh Peavoy ran 20.29 and Marianne Dunleavy ran 21.13. Unfortunately, an error on the night saw the ladies down for 4th team but they in fact won the title! Well done also to Padraig McGreal 19.09, Dave Wogan 20.35, Frank McNally 21.13, Jim McNamara 21.50, Terry Mee 21.54, Anne Woodlock 26.42 and Deborah Willis.

In his native Cavan Darren Hand was 5th in the Castle Lake 10k in 34.45 and Emmanuele Ragnoli ran 47.42.

Moving to track, the AAI Games took place in Santry and we had three athletes in action. Eamonn Fahey ran 11.20 in the 100m and 22.34 in the 200m, Simon Taggart won the 110 hurdles in 15.04 and Eric Keogh continued his recent run of good form running 4.00.55 in the 1500m.

It was a big weekend of racing for our young athletes who were busy with the Dublin Juvenile Track and Field Championships bringing home a very impressive 17 gold, 17 silver and 13 bronze for 47 medals in total. Well done to all who competed.
