The second fixture in the Dublin Juvenile Cross Country league took place at Corkagh Park in Clondalkin on Sunday. In dry, cool conditions there were some interesting races from a Donore Harriers perspective. None more so that in the Girls u/15s race where 4 club runners placed in the top 8, which hopefully augurs well for the Dublin Championships later in the season. Lucy McCann continued her good form to finish 3rd, being outsprinted for the runner-up spot in the last few metres. The ever-improving Keeva Murray placed 6th, with Eliza Ni Thighearnaigh 7th and Roisin Rynn-Cahill 8th in close order after completing the 2km route.
Earlier in the day Sean Kinsella (2nd) was edged out on the line in a thrilling Boys u/10s race over 700m. Jack Raftery came 8th in the Boys u/13s category run over 1.3km, whilst the improving Ronan McCooey was not too far behind in placing 17th.
Claire O’Connor (Girls u/16s) also showed improvement by placing fourth after a highly competitive 2.5km race. Incorporated within the same race Niamh Dowling placed 1st in the Girls u/19s category.
Paul O’Neill came 7th in the Boys u/16s race over 2.5km; Daniel Brady (11th); debutant Thomas Connor (12th); and another debutant Jason Hynes (13th) competed in the Boys u/15s race over 2km, with yet another debut runner Killian Mullins placing 23rd in the Boys u/12s 1.2km race.
